I continue to work on a series of weed paintings. When I was growing up on the southeast side of Chicago, in a new neighborhood with new homes and prairies, I saw a lot of milkweed and never thought about it one way or another. But I have, over the years, come to see the beauty of milkweed. It's a striking plant with tight clusters of fragrant pinkish mauve flowers and then, later, interesting seed pods. A friend told me that she takes the flowers and puts them in a bowl, kind of a potpourri. Here's my take on milkweed. Prints of this painting and the painting itself will show up in my Etsy shop soon.
